The whole point of the forum is to invite ANYBODY to engage in coversation (sort of like Jesus discusses the deepest of spiritual matters with all the "wrong" people). Asking Emergent Village to have a statement of faith is like asking a coffee shop to have a statement of faith, it's simply not the point. Emergent Village is not claiming to be a church, but a neutral place for diverse types of christians to gather together to understand each other better. Tony Jones, and emergents as individuals, absoultely believe in doctrines and truth, but that is just simply not the purpose of Emergent Village. It's to foster conversation, not faciliate a monologue from "leaders" telling everyone what to believe and who is wrong. The "leaders" actually hate the term Emergent Church because that is not what they are claiming to be. It's a movement for people in the church to come together, not a church itself. It's better described as a conversation or a movement, not a church.Tia Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08131181929874342944noreply@blogger.com
